Good morning,
Let the sun shine! What a beautiful morning we have today. If you plan to golf this afternoon, be sure to bring the sun screen and a big smile - you're in for a Chamber Day!
Thank you to all our members who attended the KGA Annual Meeting last Wednesday. The information sheets that many of you submitted, and the comments offered at the meeting will be considered by the Board to help establish direction for the driving range.
As you can imagine, it was challenging for the Board to summarize the numerous meetings, voluminous hours, and countless discussions into a short presentation at the annual meeting. Thank you to the many members who have extended their appreciation to the Board for the fine work they did of researching driving range options (as requested by the membership at the 2009 annual meeting). Hats off to the Board and Jon Heselwood for their extra effort put forth on this project. You can be sure that we'll all continue to work hard at finding a way we can
make our driving range more functional and enjoyable for our members and guests.
Finally, congratulations to Mark Lalum and Ryan Buls who were elected by the membership to serve on the KGA Board of Directors for the next three years. And to Doug Kauffman, KGA Board President, for his election to serve on the Board for another three years. We extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to Terry Williams and Lee Tresler for serving on the KGA Board for the past six years - Buffalo Hill is a better place because of their volunteer service.
Have a great week everybody! The course is in excellent shape and ready for you to enjoy.

Pokey: The newer greens (12,13,16,17,18) are struggling from a lack of air in their root zone. This is the result of increasing organic matter in the top 2 inches. Limited aerifications for the past several years are a major contributing factor to this increasing organic matter. We will be discussing your options with the Greens Committee and Board at the next meeting. The most likely solution will be
to aerify those greens several times using small tines, and to topdress if the weather is going to be sunny. The muddy / slimy surface on #3 and 16 are the result of an extremely low water infiltration rate (as the organic matter in the root zone increases), and the other greens thinning out as well. The small aerifier tines create small holes, and the playing surface isn't too bad after we finish. You may remember, we aerified in mid-August last year using these small tines and they recovered fairly quickly. We will do our best to try and keep the greens as good as possible if we proceed with the aerifications.
New Tee? The soil from the new cart path on #18 will generate fill material, and pending Board approval this Wednesday, we hope to use it to build a new forward tee on #3 champ!
Time Stood Still: The clocks that are installed at the 1st tees and on #10 are defective! New clocks should arrive soon.
Sign In: We hope to have the front entrance sign reinstalled soon if our repairs to the bent steel poles are successful. If we have to dig out the concrete, this job will take a little longer.
Cart Path: The base prep for the cart path may begin this week if we finish the irrigation repairs and the weather cooperates.
Bunker Edging: We have not edged the champ bunkers in several years. We hope to get this task done by the end of this season.

Today is the day, Monday, April 26th, that we begin our "summer season" hours of operation. Even though the weather isn't quite summer-like yet, the longer days have allowed us to expand our hours. We will now begin play in the morning at 7:00am, weather permitting. We will also start booking tee times at 7:00am as well, just stop by the Pro Shop in person or call 756-4530 and we will be glad to help you!
Beginning this Thursday, April 29th the starting booth will be open daily at 7:00am for check in and tee time starting. Remember the starter will keep you on the first tee until your booked time in an effort to keep proper spacing between groups and improve the flow of play on the course. To keep things moving on time, PLEASE have your group checked in and ready to play by your scheduled tee time. Other helpful tips are to have your member card with you at check in, it is much faster and easier for everyone if you do, also cancel any tee times you will not need ASAP so that we can allow other players to use them.
We appreciate your help and cooperation in keeping golf at BHGC a enjoyable 4 hours and 20 minutes OR LESS!!

Tip of the week:
Playing here at BHGC we get plenty of uneven lies, following are some tips to help you handle them more consistently:
Ball above your feet - shot will want to go left so adjust your aim more right of your target, build stance farther away from ball to allow for slope.
Ball below your feet - shot will want to go right so adjust your aim more left of your target, build stance closer to ball to allow for slope.
Ball on upslope - shot will go higher and shorter so use one more club to get desired distance, move ball position slightly forward in stance from normal.
Ball on downslope - shot will go lower and farther so use one less club to get desired distance, move ball position slightly back in stance from normal.
Hope this helps out!

This week's drum roll and salutations go to Charlie Wilson. Charlie is this week's winner of the free lunch, compliments of Buffalo Hill. Charlie was up for lunch and dropped his business card along with his E Mail address in the jar and now he is the winner of a free lunch. WAY TO GO
CHARLIE! That's all you have to do to be a winner, or just leave your business card on the table and your waitress will deposit it for you.
We are all certainly looking forward to the start of Ladies League this Tuesday. Gals you always do a great job of supporting the Food & Beverage Dept. so please keep up the good work, it is very much appreciated. Jim is going to treat you one of his outstanding "Taco Salad" bars. For you men on Thursday, it is going to be "Steak & Spaghetti". I don't believe it gets any better!! Remember the food service is yours to enjoy, so make it a point to join your teammates before or after your round of golf and have a great meal while you watch one of the NBA playoff games on the
big screen TV's. Just as last year, there will be food service available before and after league, and it is open to the PUBLIC. Our regular menu is available until 7:30 P.M., after that you're welcome to enjoy the salad bar on Tuesday or the Steak BBQ on Thursday. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A LEAGUE PLAYER TO ENJOY A GREAT MEAL. SO PLEASE COME ON UP TO BUFFALO HILL AND JOIN IN THE FUN AND HAVE A GREAT MEAL.
