Good morning!

We had a fabulous first weekend here at Buffalo Hill - over 200 players on Saturday!  Let's make this a start to the best golf season in the last 10 years!

I was approached yesterday in the clubhouse by a young lady who had a very good idea.  She loves the game of golf and would love to play more now that she has graduated from college.  But here is her dilemma, she's having a difficult time finding people in her age group (22-32) to play golf with.  So here is her idea.  If you are in this age group and would like to play golf for fun, socialize, meet new people, and get a little exercise to, please sign up on the main clubhouse bulletin board (located just outside the main office) or the ladies bulletin board located in the ladies locker room.

We also discussed Friday night mixers - open to all golfers!!  This is a perfect opportunity to meet new people and have fun playing golf.  If you need a playing partner, just call the pro shop and we'll give it our best to find a mixer partner!

Like any golf course, Buffalo Hill is working hard to provide opportunities to golfers of ALL abilities and ages!  We need juniors, students, and adults of all ages to make our membership healthy and long lasting.  Be sure to participate in clinics throughout the summer (Ladies clinics coming up in April!!) and team up with NEW PLAYERS to enjoy the great game of golf!  Tournaments are also an excellent way to network and find players in your handicap range.  It's also a great way to improve your game and have fun!

If you have any questions about any of our programs, be sure to give us a call at 756-4547 or visit our website www.golfbuffalohill.com

Irritation:   Several greens became dry last week when the sun popped out, so we began turning on the irrigation system.  Thank you to all of you who phoned the Pro Shop to let us know about leaks in the system.  It appears we have a typical number of breaks, but nothing excessive.

Timers:  We installed the Pace of Play clocks on the 1st tees and at #10 tee late last week.

Aerification:  Last fall, we didn't finish aerifying the fairways, tees and collars, so for the next few weeks, we will be "plugging" away to try and get it done.

Level:  Many of the valve boxes on the Cameron are very low, and we will try to find the time to level them this spring.

Mudder:  We will be repairing the washed out areas along the repaved cart path on #17.  Please try and avoid driving through the newly seeded areas when it is wet.  Towing is extra!

How great it is to be golfing here at BHGC in March!!  For those of you who have not had the chance to play, we opened the Champ 18 on Saturday, March 27th and the Cameron 9 & driving range on Monday, March 22nd.  All of the permanent greens are open and the course wintered very well, so come on out and enjoy some spring golf.

On the league and tournament front we have some important dates coming up:

Men's League meeting on Thursday, April 1st @ 5:30pm at the clubhouse.  Marlin will go over schedules, formats and a budget will be adopted for the 2010 season.

Ladies League captains meeting on Tuesday, April 6th @ 5:30pm at the clubhouse.  Marlin will go over the 2010 season with all of the interested captains of the ladies league teams.

Flathead Valley Match Play 2 Person Shootout entry forms will be out this week.  A great format with a great payout, all for a good cause of fighting cancer!  Get a partner and play match play format here at BHGC.  Check out the information on this event at the Pro Shop or in the latest issue of  the "Buffalo Tales" newsletter.

Now that we are 100% open we will be starting our lesson programs, so if your game needs a tune up be sure and contact myself, Marlin or Mike at the Pro Shop to schedule a lesson.  We will be happy to work on any part of your game with you, on the course or at the practice areas.

Another important date coming up, as far as booking tee times is concerned, is Thursday, April 1st.  On the 1st  we will begin answering the phone (756-4530) or booking tee times in person starting at 8:00am.  Play will also begin at 8:00am starting on the 1st.  Later in the month, on Monday, April 26th ,  we will book tee times and start play at 7:00am.

March and April are busy inventory receiving months here at the Pro Shop.  So be sure and stop by and check out the new 2010 equipment and apparel that is arriving daily.  We are always in a dealing mood, so come save some $$ on new gear for yourself or your favorite golfer.

Tip of the week:

If you follow the Rules of Golf you know that the USGA and the R & A have made some rule changes regarding grooves in the irons and wedges.  The rules won't take effect on most of us until 2014 or even 2024.  But the catch is that current wedges & some irons will not be able to be manufactured after 2010.  What that means to us is, if you like the square grooves on your wedges make sure you have enough on hand to last until 2024, because after 2010 they will not be available any longer.  Check out the USGA website www.usga.org for the complete story on the grooves issue and other important golf related news and information..

See you on the course,

Dave, Marlin & Mike

Congratulations go to Jeff Wilson.  Jeff is this week's winner of the free lunch, compliments of Buffalo Hill.  Jeff was up for lunch and dropped his business card along with his E Mail address in the jar and now he is the winner of a free lunch.  WAY TO GO JEFF!  That's all you have to do to be a winner, or just leave your business card on the table and your waitress will deposit it for you.

It was sure great seeing  so many of you folks getting back into your summer  routine by coming up for lunch before your round of golf and then enjoying some after golf snacks and beverages.   Don't forget that the bar menu is always available after the kitchen closes.   The super nachos, the cheese poppers, the "Putter Fries" or the Cajun chicken wings will always hit the spot after a round of golf.

Don't forget   "HAPPY HOUR" is also being offered again this year.   So remember every Monday, Wednesday & Saturday, Happy Hour will be from 5 PM -7 PM, EXCEPT FOR THE FINAL FOUR, WHEN HAPPY HOUR PRICES WILL BE OFFERED THROUGHOUT THE GAMES!  Domestic Drafts will be $1.00, $5.00 Domestic Pitchers, $2.00 Domestic Beer & Well Drinks.   What a great reason to enjoy some basketball and have a refreshing beverage with your friends after a round of golf.

As always we're looking forward to seeing you at Buffalo Hill,

B J Newgard
