Good morning! Ah, the crisp cool air of autumn. On one hand it's exhilarating, but the realization that the 2009 golf season just two weeks away is, well, depressing! For all of you leaving for warmer temperatures and greener grass, please think of the rest of us shoveling and plowing that wonderful white stuff! We'll do our best to enjoy the winter, but no question about it, we're already anticipating and planning for the 2010 golf season! Reminder! PLEASE, call Stacy in the main office (756-4548) to arrange a "tee time" to give blood! The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive this Saturday, (October 24 starting at 10a.m.) here at Buffalo Hill Golf Course - so if you can give blood, you'll help save lives! Finally, thank you to all of you for your tremendous support this past year! We've had a very successful year and look forward to serving you! Have a great week and enjoy the warmer temperatures! Steve Dunfee, General Manager From the Golf Course Spraying - On Monday and Tuesday, we will be spraying your greens, tees and fairways with protective fungicides. This will require that we close the course while we are spraying. If we finish on Monday, then we will reopen for play on Tuesday, but everything has to go well for us to get it all done in one day: appropriate weather and no break downs! Blow Out - The irrigation system will be winterized this week. This process is randomly controlled by the control computer, so be ready to move if a sprinkler pops up near you! And you thought golf was not a contact sport! Someday - Yes, we still hope to finish backfilling along the cart path on #17. Slowly - We are aware the greens have become very slow and bumpy. After a long season of very low mowing, our history of limited aerification, yada, yada, yada, your greens severely needed aerification, but that process is also very rough on the turf in the short term. Unfortunately, aerifying so late in the year limits their recovery, so we have mowed and rolled very little since the aerifications to try and get some new growth even as it snowed! Please hang in there with us. We will get them back in shape next season as soon as possible. Scorecards will be posted to your MSGA handicap through October 31. Any golf played out of state from November 1until March 31 may be turned in and posted beginning April 1 when the MSGA handicap system resumes. BLOW OUT SALE!! Tim is this week's winner of the FREE lunch at Buffalo Hill. Tim was up for lunch and dropped his business card along with his E Mail address in the jar and now he is the winner of a free lunch. WAY TO GO TIM! That's all you have to do to be a winner, or just leave your business card on the table and your waitress will deposit it for you. As I said last week, "all good things must come to an end", and I'm sorry to say, the Half-Way-House is now closed for the 2009 golf season. The good news is that you can still buy your snacks in the clubhouse before you go out as there will be an early "Halloween Sale" where all candy bars, chips, crackers etc. will be 50 cents each until the supply runs out. Be sure to take advantage of these bargain prices by stuffing your golf bag or cart with enough goodies to get you through the rest of the season. Also a special THANK YOU goes out to all of you golfers for the support you gave the HWH all summer long, believe me it is greatly appreciated and we are certainly looking forward to the 2010 season. Now that the weather has cooled down a bit, Jon & his crew were kind enough to bring the winters firewood over, so now you folks can relax in front of the fire and enjoy your lunch, or just get warmed up after your round of golf. Once again, one more friendly reminder, don't forget that Christmas will be here before we know it so if you haven't made arrangements for your Christmas Party, luncheon or holiday get together give BJ a call and reserve a date for your special event. First groups out in the morning and groups with less than four should play quicker! Accounts Receivable Statements Accounts past due 60 days or more are suspended until paid in full.
