Good morning!
What a difference a week makes; from a high of 80 last Monday to a high of 53 today, and lows that proves snow IS just around the corner! Let's hope that we can get a few more sunshine filled days in October to enjoy the beautiful fall colors on the golf course.
Buffalo Hill Golf Course has teamed up with the American Red Cross of Kalispell to sponsor a BLOOD DRIVE on Saturday, October 24. Appointments may be made in advance by calling Stacy in the business office at 756-4548. Appointment times for October 24 begin at 10:00a.m. and run through 1:00p.m. Please help the American Red Cross - be a blood donor. For more information, please give us a call or stop by the clubhouse. Information is posted on the
bulletin boards and available throughout the facility.
The KGA Board of Directors have approved fees for the 2010 season. The fee schedule reflects the same rates as 2009 - no increases. The Board did approve a LOWER (daily)GREEN FEE for JUNIORS up to age 16! The lower rate, which is 50% off the daily rate, applies to the Cameron 9 and Championship 18 golf courses (restriction applies, please contact the pro shop for more information). The complete fee schedule, along with the latest mailed copy of Buffalo Tales and
previous newsletters, is available on our website; www.golfbuffalohill.com.
Finally, THANK YOU to our members and guests for making the 2009 season a great success! Because of YOUR support, Buffalo Hill Golf Course was voted the BEST GOLF COURSE in the Flathead Valley (six straight years) and will continue to invest all available resources back into the facility. Our year end is coming up in December, but financial statements through September indicate a successful year. We have YOU to thank!
Have a great week.
Steve Dunfee, General Manager
From the Golf Course
Limited - We are decreasing the frequency of our mowing even further this week which should allow us to continue aerifying tees, collars, approaches and fairways!
Hope Springs - We should be able to finish the cart path backfilling work on #17 this week unless it rains too much.
Yada, Yada, Yada - The safety fence on the steep path going down the hill to #5 should be installed this Monday and Tuesday.
Haul Away - With the first frosts of the year forecast for this week, we will begin to remove the debris piled behind #5 Champ green, so watch for truck traffic - thank you!
Down And Out? - Your 2nd of 2 greens mower (1,800 hrs) went down yesterday, so we couldn't mow greens on Sunday. Hopefully it is a minor problem. The 1st mower is down and out for the year with major hydraulic component failures at 2,800 hours.
Dead Trees - We will try to find the time to get the dead new trees replaced this fall.

From the Golf Shop
Don't forget fall golf here at BHGC. The weather might be a little unpredictable, but the golf is still great. A few more rounds before winter will be good for us all.
The Pro Shop is continuing our inventory reduction efforts with the "Prices are FALLing" sale. The prices are now at 35% OFF of all remaining merchandise other than golf balls which are 25% OFF. A great time to come in and spend your "sweeps" tournament credits! If you need to know what your sweeps account balance is, just stop by and we can let you know. Remember sweeps are good for the year you win them, plus an additional year. So any unspent 2008 winnings will expire on December 31st, 2009. No need to worry about that as we still have a good selection of merchandise on hand and we are always willing to make a special order for anything we might not have in stock.
We want to say THANK YOU to all of our 2009 BHGC tournament players and sponsors. Your support of our competition program has been excellent. We hope everyone has enjoyed the season and look forward to another great tournament and league year in 2010!!
Tip of the Week:
Don't forget your golf game during the off-season. Try to keep your game active any way you can. If you are not able to reach a warm climate this winter to play, try to keep your game in shape with the following ideas:
*A good conditioning program that features stretching and range of motion will keep you ready to play.
*Swing your clubs daily to keep the feel of your swing. Perhaps a practice area in the garage or family room with soft practice golf balls will help.
*Go over your scoring stats from this year and see what areas of your game have improved and what areas need more work. No stats, start keeping them in the future (greens in regulation, putts, sand saves, etc.).
*Take advantage of mild weather and squeeze in a round or two during the winter at a nearby area that may offer winter golf (Polson and Clarkston, ID come to mind).
Try these ideas and a few of your own and the winter will be over before you know it and your game will be in better shape next spring!!
See you on the course,
Dave & Marlin

From the Food & Beverage Department
This week's drum roll goes to Angela Handran. Angela is this week's winner of the FREE lunch at Buffalo Hill. Angela was up for lunch and dropped her business card along with her E-Mail address in the jar and now she is the winner of a free lunch. WAY TO GO ANGELA! That's all you have to do to be a winner, or just leave your business card on the table and your waitress will deposit it for you.
As we all realize the 2009 golf season is coming to an end, much too fast I may add. A great big
THANK YOU to all of you that have given the Food & Beverage Dept. your support throughout the season. Even if it was a hot dog and a candy bar at the Half-Way-House, or a bottle of water from the Beverage Cart, it all adds up and is greatly appreciated. Many of you have made a habit of making Buffalo Hill your spot for breakfast or lunch so we are asking that you don't get out of the habit this winter. Be sure to take advantage of the upcoming frost delays by having breakfast or an early lunch before you go out.
One more friendly reminder, don't forget that Christmas will be here before we know it so if you haven't made arrangements for your Christmas Party, luncheon or holiday get together give BJ a call and reserve a date for your special event. The dates are filling up fast so make a call this week before it's too late.
As always we're looking forward to seeing you at Buffalo Hill,
BJ Newgard, Food & Beverage Manager
